On the Pike from Glencarlyn Park to S. Walter Reed
Barcroft retail businesses are on the edge of the Barcroft Community some are facing Columbia Pike, others are facing S. George Mason Drive. I have also included apartment buildings in that area.
Barcroft Shopping Center
Barcroft Shopping Center was built in 1949, and faces Columbia Pike. It is between Glencarlyn Park and South Buchanan Street. The first retail store in this area was a country store built about 1885 and owned by Oscar Haring.

S. Buchanan Street to S. Walter Reed
Trafalgar Flats is a block of condos with retail space on the first floor. It is on the corner of S. Buchanan St. & Columbia Pike. At the moment none of the retail space has been rented. Trafalga Flats actually has two addresses. The section facing Buchanan St. is 909 S. Buchanan Street and facing Columbia Pike is 4707 Columbia Pike. A new transite station is in the process of being installed and will replace the bus stop shelters facing the Pike . See the Trafalgar Flats page for more information.
Barcroft Medical has both doctors and dentists. It is actually on S. Wakefield St. but you can see it from the Pike.
The Whitmore
4301 Columbia Pike
The property for The Whitmore takes up an entire block from S. Wakefield to S. Taylor. It was built in 1962 .
Tanglewood
Tanglewood Condominiums is on the east corner of South Taylor and Columbia Pike. It was build in 1966.
Centro
Centro is a 80,000 sq ft 5 story building. Although a large section of the building faces Columbia Pike, The address is 950 South George Mason Drive. The plaza in front has public access. All the space on the ground floor will be retail. At the moment there are four businesses which take up less than 50% of the retail space. They are Harris Teeter Grocery, Orangetheory Fitness, Eye Smile Optometry and Dental Care and Clarendon Animal Care. Businesses that face Columbia Pike wil have a Pike address.
